Using & Borrowing
You can use the media and services of C3 library free of charge on site. A library card is required to borrow media and access digital contents such as e-books and e-journals.
Library card
You can apply for a library card with a valid photo ID at the library desk. It is also possible to apply online: fill out the application form and send it by email along with a picture of your photo ID.
Annual pass
Fee: Euro 14,00
Valid for one year from the date of issue. Entitles you to borrow up to 20 item from the scientific collections and up to 10 items from the pedagogical collections. Also enables you to access digital contents. Media can be borrowed for 4 weeks and renewed twice for further 2 weeks unless there has already been placed a hold by other users. Apprentices, students from VS, NMS, PTS, AHS and BMHS (except students from a college) as well as holders of a “Kulturpass” receive a free annual ticket.
Media pass
Fee: Euro 44,00
Valid for one year from the date of issue. Allows you to borrow an unlimited number of items and use digital contents. It can be used by several employees of a school/NGO or by individuals. Media can be borrowed for 4 weeks and renewed twice for further 2 weeks unless there has already been placed a hold by other users.
Day ticket
Fee: Euro 5,00
Entitles you to a one-time loan of up to 20 items from the scientific collections and up to 10 items from the pedagogical collections. Holds and renewals are not possible with a day ticket. The loan period is 4 weeks.
Studying and working at C3
C3 Library offers you an extensive range of multimedia collections that you can use on site free of charge during our opening hours. Reading and working spaces await you on two floors – on the ground floor and in the basement.
Digital library
Our digital library offers a wide range of e-books, e-journals, movies for streaming, and e-resources such as online publications and databases on the main subjects of C3 library. You can easily use our digital contents via remote access.

How can I apply for a library card if I can’t make it to the library?
You can easily apply for a library card even if you can’t come to the library in person. Fill out the application form and send it via email along with a picture of a valid photo ID.
How long may I keep borrowed items?
The loan period is four weeks.
Can I renew borrowed items?
Yes, items may be renewed twice for further two weeks each, as long as no other user is waiting for them. You can renew items online in your library account. Please make renewals for the scientific collections here, while you renew items from the pedagogical collections here. You can also contact us to renew your borrowed items.
What happens, if I return items late?
If items are not returned in time, overdue fees will apply (Euro 0,30 per item and day).
Can I place holds on items?
Yes, you place holds on every item from our collections. You can place holds online in your library account or contact us. Holds are ready for pickup for one week.
I can’t make it to the library in person. Can I still borrow items?
If you can’t make it to the library in person, you can also order items by email and we will mail them to you. Please note that delivery time is approximately five days, so please make sure you order the items in good time. Returns must be made by registered post. Please be aware that you will be responsible for proper packaging and will be liable for a full reimbursement of expenses if lost or damaged.
Can I borrow all items?
Some items are not available for loan. This applies to items of the reference book section, journals and newspapers. You can use licensed e-journals on-site or by remote access.
