Symposium: “Research and education in the spirit of Freire today – facing the multiple crisis”
09:30 - 16:00
Alois Wagner-Saal im C3, Sensengasse 3, 1090 Wien
A variety of crises challenge individuals and societies in a special way today – the list is so well known that there is already talk of crisis fatigue. How can education and research deal with these crises in such a way that those involved experience empowerment? This concept is central to the writings of Paulo Freire and gains particular relevance in light of current experiences of powerlessness.
The symposium aims to provide space for exchange on experiences of empowerment in education and research in the context of multiple crises – especially with regard to addressing concepts of emancipatory pedagogy. Reflections and experiences from the Global South will enrich the exchange and self-reflection of the participants.
