This book is born out of a deep reflection on the increasing dimension of poverty and violence everywhere in the world today, particularly in Africa, but with special focus on the situation in Nigeria. In this backdrop, the need for a just society with strong institutions to fight corruption and restore peace to the broken human society becomes very inevitable. Therefore, this book will raise the consciousness of the readers towards the marginalised groups. It aims at setting the whole humanity free. The fact is that nobody is free until all of us are free from what is keeping us in chains. This requires adherence to the principles of justice by furthering inclusion, tackling corruption and fighting national and global inequality. The pluralistic nature of our modern societies cannot be over emphasised. This demands building bridges as well as fostering national and international friendship. The reality of our global interconnectedness cannot be denied. While corruption is expected to be tackled at the local level in order to ensure that the citizens are empowered and have access to the basic things of life such as shelter, clean water and food, education and health, at the global level, corruption must be fought in order to guarantee equality and fairness in global affairs such as international trade. This will help to checkmate undue advantages and interference in the socio-economic and political life of another state. By this means, peace and progress in every human society will be championed. Hence, after reading this book, the reader will at the end be more eager to work for peace and promote justice and equality in our contemporary society. Ending human suffering and misery should no longer be seen as the duty of ethical philosophers and theologians, but everyone of us.
